This blog is purely from my experience and I don’t want to make it a general topic for discussion. I might be wrong but this is my experience .
The year 2010 was wonderful as my previous years. But I did my biggest blunder in career. Not because I left cognizant but because I joined a new corporate. The company was small and growing so my friend and I thought there will be lot to learn technically and company also offered us Norway trip. Our mistake of 2010 starts from here. “All that glitters are not gold” I understood what It means.
The entry into company was through an easy process and the exit was very tough. The promises were huge but the executions were less. Don’t want to pen down all the promises that were made.
When I entered the company I never felt that I was entering into a place where the MD of the company expects the employees to retire from the company. I saw both faces of the people of senior management there. When you are with them they smile at you but the moment you say you want to leave you can see a sudden change on their faces. But the above expressions are understandable, but the behavior to the employees after that is not justifiable. The next move of the MD is to see how we can make money out of this guy. And below is the plan they execute.
1. 1. Threaten them and blackmail them emotionally
2. 2. If they are not agreeing the step 1 then study the situation they are in and their mental state (This is to see if they will fight back)
3. 3. After doing the analysis pretend as if you are doing nothing and make sure that employee feels that it was his/her mistake
4. 4. Try to block all the payments which was supposed to be given to the employee and make all false statements
5. 5. Give him an exit which he/she will remember (Does this act shows that they are smart. I will say a big NO)
The MD of my company was trying to make me wrong and trying to change everything he said. He called me cheat (God tell me how did I cheat him? Let someone tell him that moving out of a company is not a cheating. This is what I said he was expecting everyone to retire from the company). He offered me the solutions which were practically not possible and he was asking me why? I don’t know to make the earth into a square. If someone asks me why I will keep my mouth shut (maunam vidhawana bhooshanam)
The company had no basic values and ethics .I want to say the moment employee loose the faith and trust in them they will try to run out. Relations are built over trust.
Want to give an advice to people who join companies (this is totally from my experience).
1. 1. Companies aim at making profits and leave the employee care at low level.
2. 2. Always get a mail confirmation for any official communication that company and you have.
3. 3. Never believe on verbal communication made with you. Words spoken can be changed but email sent can be archived. J
4. 4. Read the policies (if they don’t have write an email) of the company which you are going to avail. If you have any doubts regarding the policy raise your hands and get a mail confirmation.
5. 5. Never ever sign any documents without reading it(Don’t believe rule applies)
Let me conclude with an advice to such companies. Don’t think that employees are slaves. Respect them and you will get the respect. Respecting their values and personal life will motivate them more than the money you give. Hope this blog help companies to rethink about their employees.
